Are you planning to do anything fun for the Fourth of July this year?
We’re having a good ol’ fashioned pot luck block party and I’m super excited about it! BBQ and fireworks, does it get any better than that?! 🙂
I’ve been busy running around getting supplies, fireworks, food, and fun things for the kids to do and I had this idea to set up a squirt gun station and thought I’d share that with you today, because it turned out super cute and patriotic! Perfect for the Fourth. 🙂
I had picked up a couple of packs of water guns at the dollar store for the kids to run around and cool off with. It’s been SO HOT AND HUMID here and that mixed with the heat from the grills, tiki torches, and fireworks- a little squirt gun action is completely necessary, I thought!
So I picked up this large 7 gallon navy bucket that way I could fill it with water and the kids could refill the toys without constantly turning on our hose (and forgetting to turn it off) but I thought it would be cute to embellish the bucket a little for the Fourth of July to blend in with the decor a little more…
Since we’re decorating in red, white and blue I picked up a few paint sample pots in those colors.
You’ll also need a small paint brush and of course some nifty FrogTape’s Shape Tape and the pattern I’m using here is the ‘scallop.’ I wanted to keep it simple, so I decided to put two pieces of the shape tape together to create these little ovals and do the design all around the bucket.
And then I just painted them in alternating red, white and blue.
When the paint was dry I carefully peeled away the FrogTape’s Shape Tape and tada! Super cute!
I just love how Frogtape is known for their PaintBlock Technology that ensure clean crisp lines. It’s a product I trust and stand behind when I’m painting anything big or small.
By the way…This would make a great drink cooler too! Just filli it up with ice and stick bottles of water/juice/soda in it! A huge cooler for less than $15? What a steal!
The best part now though is I have a new storage container to use for our decorations. This bucket will hold everything perfectly so we can use it again next year! I love double duty projects like that, don’t you?!
But until the time comes to pack everything up for next year, I think the kids are going to have a blast with this. Sometimes all it takes is a bucket of water and some cheap squirt guns to make crazy great memories 🙂
