Set up a hot chocolate bar at your cookie exchange party for the holidays. It’s sure to be a hit for young and old alike. 🙂
Is it just me or is December flying by?! NINE DAYS UNTIL SANTA GETS HERE! What, the what?! 😀
Every year I feel like I make a holiday bucket list of things I want to accomplish, and every year I barely accomplish anything on it…heh…
But this year is different… I’ve been determined to check off every little thing on my list because I feel like I’ve been failing at life this year and want to head into 2017 feeling like I accomplished something.
That might be why I decided to host two completely different parties in the same weekend, or maybe it’s just because I enjoy stressing myself out. 😉
Jury is still out on that one, but in the meantime here’s some ideas for you just in case you’re thinking about throwing a last minute cookie exchange get together, or just want to set up a hot cocoa bar as part of your Christmas dessert table. 🙂
I’m always oohing and aahhing over these big chalkboards I see floating around, but I didn’t have time to make one, so I cheated…and it cost me $15 so, really I feel like I won. 🙂
That “chalkboard” is actually black poster board, taped to the gaudiest frame I could find at the thrift store. The “chalk” is actually a white out pen. 😉
You wouldn’t have even known had I not told you that. I can barely tell and it’s hanging up in my house. 🙂 I can’t wait to make a Happy New Year one to go in it.
Of course, a hot chocolate bar needs lots of variety. That’s what makes it so special! It allows everyone to customize their cocoa to their liking…
My tip for making it easy on yourself…Instead of making a few different variations of hot chocolate, make your go-to recipe {here’s mine}. Then put out a couple different syrups so if someone wants to change up the flavor, they can.
Another tip, I like keeping the hot chocolate ready to go in a hot drink dispenser, and since it’s the holidays I wrapped it in some festive paper 🙂
Some caramel and chocolate syrup drizzles are always a great topper as well to go with your whipped cream.
Speaking of toppers..
You can definitely go crazy thinking of everything you could put out, so I just try to keep it somewhat simple (under 10 items). A good mix of flavors and combos that I know everyone will like. The cotton candy I found at Walmart and its a sugar cookie flavor. I thought that was so fun. 🙂
And since my friends know I’m not the greatest baker, a peace offering of store bought cupcakes and pull apart and bake chocolate chip cookies will have to do from me 😉
I love the idea of hosting a cookie exchange during the holidays! It’s a great way to taste everyone’s “specialty” treat. I also love hearing the stories behind the cookies. Lots of passed down recipes and memory sharing goes on and it’s a really fun way just to have an excuse to get together with friends and family.
For more festive ideas and inspiration. Check out my CHRISTMAS PAGE, while you’re here! 🙂
Talk to you soon friends, take care!
