Today I’m showing you some simple kitchen storage solutions and how I created an open pantry using bookshelves!
Does this make your heart pitter patter the way it does mine?
Because oh my gawd Becky…look at those shelves…they are SO organized! 😉
After I painted my counter tops to look like marble I didn’t want to clutter them back up with stuff. I use a lot of these items on the daily so I wanted to keep them out and easy to access.
I do have a closet pantry but the shelves are deep, and it’s hard to find things even though I do keep it pretty neat. I’m in the process of redoing that pantry though, and I’ll show you that when it’s done, but for now…
I love the look of open shelving in a kitchen! It is completely practical and functional, and it forces you to keep everything tidy and organized.
There was a big empty wall in my kitchen that used to be where my kitchen table was but it was moved outside a couple years ago and that area has just been an unused space until now.
I had two Billy bookcases from IKEA that were in my guest room not being used to their full potential. So I repurposed them into an open pantry and am thrilled with the result!
Now there’s a place for everything that I use pretty often and everything is easy to find and grab when needed. I can see exactly what needs to be restocked now.
And it’s helping to keep my countertops clutter free!
The open shelving had so much extra space that I was even able to clear out some cabinets to use for other things.
Like the one above my stove…
I was keeping these two boxes in there that held extra spices that I don’t use often and cookie decorating things. Now the cabinet is free for other things.
Oils, vinegars, citrus, garlic and onions…All those things took up so much space sitting on my counters, but not anymore! 🙂
The shelves were the perfect width to hold my bulky kitchen equipment too and now I don’t have to keep them in the laundry room.
A huge improvement for my kitchen and for no money! That’s a BIG bonus. I love being able to give old items new life! Especially when they are this functional. 🙂
Are you a fan of open kitchen shelving or you like keeping everything behind closed doors?
Talk to you soon friends, take care!
