This homemade Boursin cheese recipe is creamy, rich, and full of fresh garlic herb flavor. Made with cream cheese, butter, goat cheese, garlic, and herbs, it is an easy appetizer that is perfect for crackers, vegetables, crostini, and cheese boards.

Ingredients

Scale

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
4 ounces goat cheese, softened
2 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
1 teaspoon fresh dill, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch crushed red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  • Add the softened cream cheese, softened butter, and softened goat cheese to a medium mixing bowl.

  • Beat with a hand mixer, or stir well with a spoon, until smooth and creamy.

  • Add the garlic, parsley, chives, dill, thyme, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.

  • Mix again until the herbs and seasonings are evenly incorporated throughout the cheese mixture.

  • Transfer the cheese mixture to a serving bowl, or shape it into a round using plastic wrap for a more classic Boursin-style presentation.

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving so the flavors can develop and the cheese can firm up slightly.

  • Serve with crackers, crostini, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

For a milder flavor, replace the goat cheese with mascarpone.
Fresh herbs will give the best flavor and texture.
This cheese spread tastes even better after chilling overnight.
Serve slightly chilled or let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving for the creamiest texture.
