Description

This Bacon Cheeseburger Calzone combines all the flavors of a classic bacon cheeseburger with the comfort of a golden baked calzone. Filled with seasoned ground beef, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and mozzarella, it’s an easy family-friendly dinner that’s perfect for busy weeknights.

Filling

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Dough

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard

Egg Wash

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Optional

  • Sesame seeds
  • Dill pickle slices
  • Burger sauce for dipping


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Cook bacon until crisp and crumble into pieces.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, black pepper, and diced onion. Cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool slightly.
  6. Divide pizza dough into 4 equal portions.
  7. Roll each portion into an 8-inch circle.
  8. Spread a small amount of ketchup and mustard onto one side of each dough circle.
  9. Divide the beef mixture evenly among the dough circles.
  10. Top with bacon, cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese.
  11. Fold dough over filling to form a half-moon shape.
  12. Seal edges and crimp with a fork.
  13. Whisk egg and water together. Brush over calzones.
  14. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  15. Cut a small slit in the top of each calzone.
  16. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  17. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Let the filling cool before assembling to prevent soggy dough.
  • Add chopped dill pickles inside for extra cheeseburger flavor.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
