Description
This Ale House Zinger Salad copycat features crispy spicy fried chicken served over a classic Caesar salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, crunchy croutons, shaved Parmesan, and creamy Caesar dressing.
Ingredients
Spicy Chicken
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all purpose flour
½ cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
oil for frying
Caesar Salad
2 heads romaine lettuce, chopped
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup croutons
½ cup shaved Parmesan cheese
½ cup Caesar dressing
Instructions

Slice chicken breasts into strips or tender sized pieces.

Place chicken in a bowl with buttermilk and allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

In another bowl combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.

Heat about 2 inches of oil in a skillet to 350°F.

Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture.

Fry chicken for 4–5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Transfer fried chicken to a paper towel lined plate.

In a large bowl combine chopped romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, croutons, and shaved Parmesan.

Toss lightly with Caesar dressing.

Top salad with the crispy fried chicken and serve immediately.
Notes
Buttermilk tenderizes the chicken and helps the breading stick.
