These easy slow cooker Bavarian meatballs are made with frozen meatballs, beer, onion soup mix, brown sugar, and melted cheese for a rich German-inspired comfort food. Perfect for parties, game day, or served on toasted hoagie rolls with mustard.
1 (24–28 oz) package frozen meatballs
½ cup onion, finely chopped
¼ cup packed brown sugar
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 (12 oz) can beer
3 cups shredded cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or a mix)
Optional for Serving:
Toasted hoagie rolls
Dijon or yellow mustard
Chopped parsley
Add the frozen meatballs to the slow cooker.
Sprinkle the chopped onion, brown sugar, and onion soup mix over the meatballs.
Pour the can of beer over everything.
Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce is bubbling.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top during the last 15–20 minutes of cooking and allow it to melt.
Serve warm directly from the slow cooker or pile the meatballs onto toasted hoagie rolls and drizzle with mustard.
