Description

This homemade shawarma seasoning blend is packed with warm Middle Eastern spices like cumin, paprika, turmeric, and cinnamon. It’s perfect for chicken shawarma, beef, lamb, roasted vegetables, and shawarma bowls.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin

  • 2 tablespoons paprika

  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon turmeric

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)


Instructions

  • Add all spices to a small mixing bowl.

  • Stir or whisk until evenly combined.

  • Transfer the shawarma seasoning to an airtight spice jar or container.

  • Store in a cool, dry place until ready to use.

Notes

  • Use about 1–2 tablespoons seasoning per pound of meat.

  • For chicken shawarma marinade, mix 1 tablespoon seasoning with ½ cup yogurt, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and the juice of 1 lemon.

  • Let chicken marinate at least 30 minutes or overnight for best flavor.
