Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut squash in half and scoop seeds and pulp out with a spoon. Set on baking sheet, skin side down.
In a skillet, fry up bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside. Add butter into the bacon grease until melted. Add in fresh chopped sage and stir around for a minute. Remove from heat.
Pour the butter mixture over squash halves, Let it pool in the hole. Use a basting brush to evenly coat squash.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper and bake squash in the oven for 50 minutes or until fork tender.
Chop up the bacon and sprinkle on top. Serve hot-room temp.
