Description
This Irish pub burger is loaded with crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and a creamy Dijon pub sauce all served on a buttery toasted brioche bun. It’s the ultimate pub-style burger you can easily make at home.
Ingredients
For the Burgers
1 lb ground beef
4 brioche buns
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Butter, for toasting buns
For the Caramelized Onions
1 large onion, sliced
½ cup beef broth
For the Bacon
4 slices bacon
For the Creamy Pub Sauce
½ cup sour cream
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
1. Cook the Bacon
Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels and set aside.
2. Caramelize the Onions
In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until softened.
Pour in the beef broth and simmer until the liquid reduces and the onions become golden and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Make the Pub Sauce
In a small bowl combine the sour cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
Stir until smooth and creamy.
4. Cook the Burger Patties
Form the ground beef into 4 equal patties and season with salt and pepper.
Cook in a skillet or on a grill over medium-high heat until cooked to your desired doneness.
During the last minute of cooking, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
5. Toast the Buns
Spread butter on the brioche buns and toast them in a skillet until golden brown.
6. Assemble the Burgers
Spread a spoonful of pub sauce on the bottom bun.
Top with the cheeseburger patty, caramelized onions, and crispy bacon.
Finish with the top bun and serve immediately.
Notes
For even richer flavor, try using Irish cheddar cheese.
You can also add a splash of Guinness beer to the onions while caramelizing for a classic Irish pub flavor.
