Description
These homemade garlic croutons are buttery, crispy, and packed with flavor. Made with cubed bread tossed in garlic butter and baked until golden, they’re the perfect restaurant-style topping for salads and soups.
Ingredients
-
4 cups crusty bread, cubed (French bread or sourdough works best)
-
4 tablespoons butter, melted
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
¼ teaspoon black pepper
-
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
-
¼ cup grated parmesan (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
-
In a small bowl combine melted butter, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
-
Pour the garlic butter mixture over the bread cubes and toss until evenly coated.
-
Spread the bread cubes onto a baking sheet in a single layer.
-
Bake for 15–20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the croutons are golden and crispy.
-
If using parmesan, sprinkle it over the croutons during the last 5 minutes of baking.
-
Allow the croutons to cool before serving. They will become crispier as they cool.
Notes
-
Slightly stale bread makes the best croutons.
-
Use French bread, sourdough, or baguette for the best texture.
-
Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
