These homemade doggie cupcakes (pup cakes) are an easy, dog-safe treat made with peanut butter, pumpkin, and Greek yogurt. Perfect for dog birthdays, gotcha days, or special occasions.

Dog Cupcakes

  • ½ cup whole wheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ⅓ cup canola oil

  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt (xylitol-free)

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)

Frosting

  • 2 ounces cream cheese

  • 2 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree

  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon flour (optional, to thicken)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a cupcake pan or line with silicone liners.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and baking powder.

  • Add oil, applesauce, egg, Greek yogurt, honey, and peanut butter. Mix until smooth.

  • Divide batter evenly into the cupcake pan.

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until set and lightly golden.

  • Allow cupcakes to cool completely.

  • In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, pumpkin, Greek yogurt, honey, and flour until smooth.

  • Frost cooled cupcakes and serve.

Notes

  • Always use xylitol-free peanut butter.

  • Serve as an occasional treat, not a daily snack.

  • For small dogs, serve half a cupcake.

  • Unfrosted cupcakes freeze well for up to 2 months.
