These homemade doggie cupcakes (pup cakes) are an easy, dog-safe treat made with peanut butter, pumpkin, and Greek yogurt. Perfect for dog birthdays, gotcha days, or special occasions.
Dog Cupcakes
½ cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
⅓ cup canola oil
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 large egg
½ cup plain Greek yogurt (xylitol-free)
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
Frosting
2 ounces cream cheese
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon flour (optional, to thicken)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a cupcake pan or line with silicone liners.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
Add oil, applesauce, egg, Greek yogurt, honey, and peanut butter. Mix until smooth.
Divide batter evenly into the cupcake pan.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until set and lightly golden.
Allow cupcakes to cool completely.
In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, pumpkin, Greek yogurt, honey, and flour until smooth.
Frost cooled cupcakes and serve.
Always use xylitol-free peanut butter.
Serve as an occasional treat, not a daily snack.
For small dogs, serve half a cupcake.
Unfrosted cupcakes freeze well for up to 2 months.
