This homemade chili seasoning mix is bold, smoky, slightly sweet, and made with simple pantry spices. Skip the store-bought packets and make your own flavorful chili blend at home.
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons cumin
2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl.
Whisk together until evenly combined.
Taste and adjust salt, pepper, or cayenne if desired.
Transfer to an airtight jar or spice container.
Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
Use 3–4 tablespoons per 1 pound of meat when making chili.
Add more cayenne for extra heat or reduce for a milder blend.
