Juicy garlic miso butter steak bites seared in a hot cast iron skillet and coated in a rich, savory miso garlic butter sauce. This easy 20-minute steak dinner is packed with bold umami flavor and perfect for busy weeknights.
or the Steak Bites:
1½ lbs sirloin steak tips, cut into 1½-inch cubes
1 tablespoon avocado oil (or olive oil)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
For the Garlic Miso Butter:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1½ tablespoons white miso paste
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
Optional Garnish:
Fresh chopped parsley
Flaky sea salt
Prep the steak. Pat steak cubes dry with paper towels. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
Make the miso butter. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, white miso paste, minced garlic, black pepper, and lemon juice until smooth.
Heat the skillet. Place a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil.
Sear the steak. Add steak bites in a single layer. Sear 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to desired doneness. Do not overcrowd the pan.
Add the butter. Reduce heat to medium. Return all steak to skillet and add garlic miso butter. Toss until melted and glossy, about 1–2 minutes.
Serve. Garnish with parsley and flaky sea salt. Serve immediately.
