Description

This Garlic Butter Creole Chicken is an easy one-pan Southern dinner packed with bold homemade Creole seasoning and rich garlic butter sauce. Perfect 30 minute weeknight chicken recipe with New Orleans flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Creole Seasoning

  • 1½ tbsp brown sugar

  • 2½ tsp paprika (sweet or regular)

  • 1½ tsp kosher salt

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp dried thyme

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 23 tbsp olive oil

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

Garnish (Optional)

  • Fresh chopped parsley or cilantro

  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

1. Make the Creole Seasoning

In a small bowl, mix all seasoning ingredients together until well combined.

2. Season the Chicken

Pat chicken dry with paper towels. Coat generously with the Creole seasoning on both sides.

3. Sear in a Skillet

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes per side until deeply golden and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F).

Do not crowd the pan — this helps create that beautiful crust.

4. Add Garlic Butter

Reduce heat to medium-low. Add butter and crushed garlic to the pan. Spoon the melted garlic butter over the chicken continuously for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

5. Finish & Serve

Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice if desired. Garnish with chopped herbs and serve immediately.

Notes

Tips for the Best Garlic Butter Creole Chicken

  • Don’t skip drying the chicken — it helps create a better sear.

  • Adjust cayenne to control heat.

  • If chicken breasts are thick, pound slightly for even cooking.

  • Let chicken rest 5 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy.

  • Add a splash of chicken broth to the pan if you want extra sauce.
