Tender seared steak, sautéed mushrooms, and a rich creamy marsala sauce come together in one skillet for an easy dinner that feels restaurant worthy.
1 1/2 pounds steak, cut into strips or bite-sized pieces
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup marsala wine
1 cup beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
chopped parsley for garnish, optional
Season the steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Toss with flour.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear the steak until browned, then remove to a plate.
Add butter, mushrooms, and onion to the skillet. Cook until tender.
Stir in garlic and cook briefly.
Add marsala wine and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard.
Lower heat and stir in heavy cream.
Simmer until the sauce thickens.
Return steak to the skillet and cook until warmed through.
Garnish with parsley and serve.
Use sirloin for a budget-friendly option, or ribeye for a richer flavor.
Do not overcook the steak when returning it to the skillet or it can become tough.
This is delicious served over mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or rice.
