This creamy mushrooms in sour cream recipe is an easy 20-minute side dish made in one skillet. Rich, savory, and perfect for serving with steak, chicken, pork chops, or over egg noodles.
Ingredients

1 small onion, chopped

2 tablespoons butter

16 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced

8 ounces sour cream

1 teaspoon dried dill weed

½ teaspoon garlic powder

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

Optional: 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for thickening)
Instructions
- In a large cast iron skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3–4 minutes.

Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release moisture and become tender and lightly golden, about 6–8 minutes.

Reduce heat to low and stir in the sour cream, dill weed, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

If a thicker sauce is desired, sprinkle in the flour and stir until combined.

Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes until heated through. Do not boil.

Serve warm.

Do not boil after adding sour cream to prevent curdling.

Fresh dill may be substituted for dried (use 1 tablespoon chopped).
