My poor child.
Every year around this time, my daughter starts begging to make everyone and their mother a box of amazingly delicious and beautifully decorated cookies. If you’re new here and don’t understand why this is a problem…
“Hi, I’m Christine…and severely baking-challenged.”
I can burn cupcakes like nobody’s business, and my cookies almost always turn into hockey pucks. It’s bad guys.
I CAN’T EVEN ADD FOOD DYE TO WHITE CHOCOLATE, APPARENTLY! Thank goodness when I put out the SOS on Facebook yesterday, you told me what the problem was, and yep…you were right, I had the wrong kind of coloring! I have such smart readers!! But that still didn’t help my cake pops. :-/
I was going to make these amazing white chocolate cake pop snowman with red chocolate scarves, and bright blue chocolate hats. They were going to be EPIC! The greatest holiday cake pops of ALL TIME! Pinned TWENTY-BILLION TIMES! I just knew it…

I don’t even have pictures to prove how bad they turned out. Just take my word. So my sweet daughter came in a sensed my frustration, patted me on the bum, and said “It’s okay mom, we don’t need to make cookies or cake pops. Can I have the chocolate?”

As I handed over cups of melted chocolate to my 6 year old, I felt like a complete loser. Seriously just tattoo a big “L” to my forehead followed by a “7 Weenie!”. What kind of mother can’t bake?! That’s in the job description, isn’t it?!
That’s when it happened. The simplest, most perfect act of all things deliciousness. I watched as my daughter dipped strawberry after strawberry into the chocolate and finally the lightbulb went off-literally!
So I can’t bake. But I think these chocolate covered strawberry Christmas lights are just as sweet and delicious!
What you’ll need to make your own?
- strawberries- preferably ones that are all the same size and shaped like a bulb
- Wiltons colored candy melts in blue, green, yellow, and red
- silver mini cupcake wrappers for “the socket”

So if you happen to know me outside of this blog, just know I may not bring you a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies this year, but I will bring you these cuties, and now you know why! It’s not that I didn’t want to make you cookies, or the most epic snowman cake pops of all time. I really did! But I care about you too much to poison you, or break your tooth on my hockey pucks, so that’s why you’re getting these. 😉
Are you a baker? What kinds of treats do you make this time of year?
Talk to you soon friends, and thanks again for your help on Facebook!
