Ingredients
For the Bowls
4 cups mashed potatoes
4 chicken fried steaks (frozen or homemade)
2 cups green beans, trimmed and cooked
1 tablespoon butter (for green beans)
salt and pepper to taste
Pepper Gravy
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
¾ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
Optional garnish
chopped parsley
green onions
Instructions
Prepare chicken fried steak according to package instructions or cook homemade breaded steak in a skillet until golden brown and crispy.
Once cooked, cut the steaks into bite-sized pieces.
Make your favorite mashed potatoes or reheat leftovers until hot and creamy.
Divide the mashed potatoes between four serving bowls.
Heat green beans in a skillet with butter, salt, and pepper until warmed through and tender.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
Whisk in flour and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux.
Slowly whisk in milk and continue stirring until the gravy thickens.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Simmer until smooth and creamy.
Top mashed potatoes with green beans and pieces of crispy chicken fried steak.
Ladle warm pepper gravy generously over the top.
Garnish with parsley or green onions if desired.
