Description

This classic Amish-style broccoli and cauliflower salad is creamy, crunchy, and perfectly sweet. Made with fresh broccoli, cauliflower, bacon bits, raisins, shredded cheddar, and a simple Amish deli–inspired dressing, it’s the perfect make-ahead side dish for potlucks, holidays, and summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Salad

  • 3 cups broccoli florets, chopped small

  • 3 cups cauliflower florets, chopped small

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup bacon bits (or cooked, crumbled bacon)

  • ½ cup raisins

Dressing

  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the chopped broccoli and cauliflower.

  • Add the shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and raisins.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  • Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently until everything is evenly coated.

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

  • Stir again before serving and adjust seasoning if needed.

Notes

  • For best flavor, chop the broccoli and cauliflower into small, bite-sized pieces.

  • This salad tastes even better after chilling overnight.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
